What are the risks of using a Webmail on my cPanel server as a personal mail acount?

For some time now, I have been think of moving away from email service providers like Gmail and Outlook because they have simply become much bigger than being just an email service provider. I did some research and found several other email service providers like ProtonMail, Tutanota, Mailbox, etc.

As I was searching for alternatives, I got the idea of having an email service on my website server. I then created an email user in my cPanel and logged into the webmail using Roundcube. Initially, I was able to send emails but not receive emails into the account. I would get the following error:

The response from the remote server was:

550 Please turn on SMTP Authentication in your mail client. mail-il1-f180.google.com [209.85.166.180]:37650 is not permitted to relay through this server without authentication.

After searching around the internet for a little more, I found the I need to configure the email delivery route in my cPanel such that the local server accepts emails. I made the necessary changes and finally I was able to send and receive emails on the Webmail account.

There is a significant delay in sending and receiving emails from this account. Now I am trying to test it in all possible ways and find out if it can completely be used as a personal mail. I understand that sometimes, the email sent from this account would go into the receiver's spam folder. But, I am not worried about that right now.

I would like to know how reliable this is and if anyone has done this, please tell me all the pros and cons of having this. Also, are there any better alternatives to Roundcube? Its interface looks very outdated. And are there any client applications that are available to synchronize the mailbox on my mobile phone?
