What does the "gmail docs internal guid" mean when seen in gmail source code?

We've noticed that when collaborating in Google Docs and then different individuals of our team email others outside the team, that this "gmail-docs-internal-guid" gets put in the source code of the emails when various sections of the Google doc are pasted into a gmail by a team member.

But it does not seem to consistently reference the same doc, even when team members are working out of the same doc, although usually the first octet is the same, but not always. And when the same person sends different passages pasted into different gmails to others from the same Google doc, the first octet is often not the same, but sometimes it is.

Can anyone tell me what this “guid” is and what it means, and how to interpret it? More importantly, is there a way to figure out what google doc this guid originated from?

Here's an example: < span id=3D"gmail-docs-internal-guid-6fa21121-bfc3-d946-e3=af-1b57cf288564">
